From Miranda July’s All Fours to Scalzi’s When the Moon Hits Your Eye

I’m diving headfirst into Miranda July’s All Fours, a delightful read. A forty-something artist leaves her family in LA to drive cross-country… only to detour into a motel, a new identity, and maybe the real question at the heart of womanhood: Is freedom ever truly free, or just a nicer room with better lighting?

Then there’s John Scalzi’s cheesy masterpiece, When the Moon Hits Your Eye. No, literally, a book about what happens when the moon turns into a giant wheel of cheese.

As absurd as it sounds, it’s serious fiction for these times. A cosmic dairy dilemma with global implications. And somewhere between the moon melting and the world unraveling, I couldn’t help but wonder… when the universe throws you a curveball, or in this case, a cheddar sphere, do you adapt, or do you melt?

So while toggling between mid-life reinvention and lunar fromage, I wonder:
Are we all just one detour, or one cheesy moon, away from becoming someone completely new?
